I've been wondering, like all children do (despite the fact that I am an adult by human standards), about the odd relationship I have with the Mothers and Fathers of Mernac.
My mother, Terees, goddess of harmony and wisdom, is who gave me immortality. She refers to me and the rest of the Shadow Guards as her children. If they are all her children, then we are sisters and brothers, right? And that makes her our “mother” in all senses except blood.
I call Quont my father, for like a father he has been a stable and constant part of my life since I was but a small child. After the death of my birth-parents, he was there in Garren.
Does that mean he is also my uncle, if Terees, his sister, is my mother? Does that mean the other gods and goddesses, the rest of the Mothers and Fathers, are our aunts and uncles? Do I refer to the Mothers of Fathers as “Aunt” or “Uncle”?
It is so confusing and Mother Terees, well, she is a bit preoccupied with the dealings of her sisters and brothers. Perhaps Arleas would have the answer I seek.
Life is so confusing.

Good question. I've similar questions about my own Quinshards, as I had a hand in their existence. I am a bit like their mother, but the Mothers and Fathers are all the parental units for Mernac beings.
So, Ryna, go with your gut. What's comfortable for you. Remember, that though the gods are often referred to as siblings, they were once upon a time lovers and friends, closer than blood families.
Don't trouble yourself too much over titles, sweet one. When it comes to the gods, there is never an easy answer.
She's right, although we often call one another brother and sister now as we did after Mernac's birth, we gods were much more than that to each other.
Even your Mother Terees and I shared a very special relationship in a long ago blissful time, but I don't expect her to remember it, to remember me as I used to be. It wasn't the same passionate union I had with the Mother Kala, but my memories of Terees are filled with sweetness and light...
